چکیده

Alginate, a kind of linear acidic polysaccharide, consists ?-L-guluronate (G) and ?-D-mannuronate (M). Both alginate its degradation products (alginate oligosaccharides) possess abundant biological activities such as antioxidant activity, antitumor antimicrobial activity. Therefore, oligosaccharides have great value in food, pharmaceutical, agricultural fields. Alginate lyase can degrade into via the ?-elimination reaction. It plays an important role marine carbon recycling deep utilization brown algae. Elucidating structural features improve our knowledge catalytic mechanisms. With development analysis techniques, increasing numbers lyases been characterized at level. Hence, it is essential helpful to summarize discuss up-to-date findings. In this review, we summarized progress on mechanisms lyases. Furthermore, molecular modification strategies applications also discussed. This comprehensive information should be expand

Microbial alginate production, modification and its applications

Alginate is an important polysaccharide used widely in the food, textile, printing and pharmaceutical industries for its viscosifying, and gelling properties. All commercially produced alginates are isolated from farmed brown seaweeds. These algal alginates suffer from heterogeneity in composition and material properties. Here, we will discuss alginates produced by bacteria; the molecular mecha...

Biochemical Characteristics and Variable Alginate-Degrading Modes of a Novel Bifunctional Endolytic Alginate Lyase

Bifunctional alginate lyases can efficiently degrade alginate comprised of mannuronate (M) and guluronate (G), but their substrate-degrading modes have not been thoroughly elucidated to date. In this study, we present Aly1 as a novel bifunctional endolytic alginate lyase of the genus Flammeovirga The recombinant enzyme showed optimal activity at 50°C and pH 6.0. The enzyme produced unsaturated ...

Falsirhodobacter sp. alg1 Harbors Single Homologs of Endo and Exo-Type Alginate Lyases Efficient for Alginate Depolymerization

Alginate-degrading bacteria play an important role in alginate degradation by harboring highly efficient and unique alginolytic genes. Although the general mechanism for alginate degradation by these bacteria is fairly understood, much is still required to fully exploit them. Here, we report the isolation of a novel strain, Falsirhodobacter sp. alg1, the first report for an alginate-degrading b...

A Novel Bifunctional Endolytic Alginate Lyase with Variable Alginate-Degrading Modes and Versatile Monosaccharide-Producing Properties

Endo-type alginate lyases usually degrade alginate completely into various size-defined unsaturated oligosaccharide products (≥disaccharides), while exoenzymes primarily produce monosaccharide products including saturated mannuronate (M) and guluronate (G) units and particularly unsaturated Δ units. Recently, two bifunctional alginate lyases have been identified as endolytic but M- and G-produc...
